THROW BACK THURSDAY, Great Chief Award Artist is Joe Abbrescia, 1978

The Great Chief is the oldest and most prestigious award given by the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Hockaday Museum of Art. The award honors civic and volunteer spirit that spans a lifetime and provides a legacy for the community.  Through their efforts, they have made the Flathead Valley a better place in which to live and work.

In 1977, Joe Abbrescia was chosen to be the artist for the 1978 Great Chief Award.  Below he is shown in his studio space which was at 417 E. Idaho St. in Kalispell.  Dominoes Pizza occupies that space today.

It's THROW BACK THURSDAY #tbt at Abbrescia Gallery

It's THROW BACK THURSDAY at Abbrescia Gallery & Fine Art Restoration Studio and we're rolling back to 1975!

Today, I am sharing with you this article from The Missoulian Newspaper from September 1975.  It talks about Joe Abbrescia (Joseph L. Abbrescia) coming here from Chicago and making preparations to move his family to the Lake Blaine area of Montana that we now call 'home'.
